You can sponsor a child!
Child Sponsorship
There are over 400 students who are currently attending one of our three school programs. These students are taught a bible based curriculum by qualified Haitian teachers. In Haiti, education is a privilege reserved for those who can pay. Most children are unable to attend school. Political strife, soaring inflation, and unstable governments have done little to help the future generations of Haiti.
Global Outreach Haiti offers two programs in the early elementary years and an afternoon school program for older children.
Pre K/Kindergarten Program
This program is for children ages 3, 4 or 5 years of age. Our teachers teach basic skills like tying shoes, colors, counting, hygiene, playing with blocks, and proper social behavior. Prayer, singing and snack are part of each school day.
Morning School Program (Grades 1-3)
1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade teachers cover the same curriculum as American Teachers: Reading, Math, Social Studies, History, Music, and Bible. Each child receives a meal at the end of the school day.
Afternoon School Program
The Afternoon School Program is a 4 year program designed to give working children a chance to improve their life situation. These are children that are forced to work in the homes of relatives or even strangers. They have had no chance to attend morning classes like other children. They often don’t even start school until they are 12 or 13 years old. At the end of the 4-year Afternoon School Program, these children are able to read, write, and understand basic math computations. These children are also fed a Haitian meal. Oftentimes, this is the only meal they will receive for the day.
Sponsorship Costs
The cost to sponsor a child in one of our three schools is only $300/yr. Your individual support provides his or her meal for the day, books, tuition, a uniform and all the supplies needed for the classroom. Your sponsorship helps to pay the overall cost of providing the best teachers we can find for our program. 100% of your sponsorship/donation is tax deductible and goes towards sponsorship of your child/school. No administrative fees are deducted from your donation. (include ECFA logo here)
How will I know what child I sponsor?
Amy Piper, our Program Director, will connect you with a child from our village and send you a picture and personal information about your child. You will receive annual updates on your child, pictures, or a letter from Haiti.
How can I connect with my sponsored child?
You can pray faithfully for your child. You may send cards and letters through our program director. Your child faces many challenges. Their homes have no running water, no electricity, scarcity of food and basic living supplies. Additional love gifts designated for your child’s family is also permitted. Contact Amy Piper for more details.
